| Description: | The Arizona Department of Transportation is planning to use a high-tech traffic control center that will oversee freeway and surface street traffic for the three-year widening of Interstate 10. Located near the I-10 and Interstate 19 interchange, the control center will contain video screens for 72 remotely operated cameras that will provide technicians with real-time information on traffic flow in the construction area and will enable emergency responders to see how to best reach incidents in the area. Technicians in the center will be able to remotely change signals on city traffic lights to improve traffic flow and clear the way for emergency vehicles when needed. |
