Roadway Conditions As Contributing Factors in 1998 Florida Traffic Crashes (Final Report)
A research project determined whether 1998 crashes noting roadway contributing condition could serve as a reliable Florida DOT performance indicator for measuring safety on the State Highway System (SHS). Road repair/construction and standing water account for the majority of contributing factors in the final sample. Of the final sample of 728 crashes, 96 involved standing water. Road repair/construction and standing water account for 44 percent of non-fatal injury crashes. Road repair/construction and standing water account for 86 percent of property damage crashes.
