Project - FLORIDA: Value Pricing on the Sanibel Bridge and Causeway in Lee County

Currently, Lee County has one active value pricing project and has been successful in studying and implementing other types of value pricing projects since 2000. Lee County has received Value Pricing grant awards amounting to over $2.3 million since FY 2000. The intent of this project was to study the impact of lowering tolls prior to the morning peak and just after it, as well as studying a mid-morning toll differential. The project also intended to offer a toll credit component for motorists willing to travel during off-peak hours.

Implementation Study Awarded

January 2006

Study Completed

July 2008

The Council requested that the study not continue and that the funds be transferred to another project that could better benefit from a value pricing study. Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) did advise that the funds could not be transferred to another project and the Lee County Board of County Commissioners voted to complete the project surveys that were underway and then close the project.
