National Coalition for Transportation Operations

"Perspectives on Surface Transportation Management and Operations: Congestion, Security, Public Safety, and Weather"

One of the key 2002 action items recommended to us from participants at the National Summit on Transportation Operations was to aggressively engage in outreach activities to further advance the operations message. Summit participants also told us the term "operations" does not resonate effectively with many key stakeholders. Therefore, it was suggested one or more "theme presentations" be developed identifying both the breadth and benefits of system management and operations. The presentations are to be used by "Operations Ambassadors" for outreach activities. In response to this request, we developed 4 theme-based presentations on congestion, security, public safety and weather.
