Title SmartWay Honors Freight Industry Leaders for Reducing CO2 Emissions

Description Held in combination with the American Trucking Association's Annual Management Conference and Exhibit in Las Vegas, the EPA honored 37 organizations with its 2009 SmartWay Excellence Award. The SmartWay Excellence Award has been given out annually since 2006 to organizations which reduce carbon dioxide emissions and conserve fuel by improving their freight operations. The SmartWay partnership expects to save at least $1.3 billion a year in fuel costs by eliminating six million ton of carbon dioxide and conserving more than 540 million gallons of diesel fuel.
